The Fool's Credo and His Reward

line

            Topsy-turvy, backwards 'round,
            Right and wrong turned upside down.

"I will by impulse or design
Do what I want with what is mine.
What if my deeds cause others pain?
My only goal is that I gain.
Let others dry the children's tears,
Hold, comfort them, and calm their fears.
My greed for pleasure rules; I must
Feed all my hungers, sate my lust.
Pleasure is enough excuse
To take and take, to use, abuse.
I'll heed no law; I'll pay no due.
No one can tell me what to do!
While here, I will command the ride;
I'll live my life as I decide."

And so the fool lives out his creed
Against his souls most vital need.
            Topsy-turvy, backwards 'round,
            Right and wrong turned upside down.

On that great last accounting day,
The fool will find that he must pay
A debt too vast, with no resource;
He'll fall in fear with no recourse.
The fool will be forever lost
For scorning Christ, Who paid sin's cost.

God is not mocked; His word He'll keep.
All those who sow must also reap.
