TWO MEN

line

The wise among us will attend
To Jesus story of two men.
They both professed to know the Son,
The Father, SpiritThree in One.

One man received the Living Word
And then obeyed the truth he heard.
He walked in faith; he sowed good seed.
He helped the poor and those in need.

He built a house on solid ground,
A firm foundation, strong and sound.
A storm arose; the wild winds beat
Against the house, but met defeat.

His faith was sure; his trust was good.
And through the storm, his house still stood.
The Word well-lived brings victory
Over lifes adversity.

The other man heard Gods Word, too,
And agreed this Word is true.
He left the church, went on his way.
He heard, but he did not obey.

He worked for self to get ahead.
Without good works, his faith was dead.
He built a house he thought secure,
A house that he thought would endure.

He cared not that his house would stand
Upon the base of shifting sand.
A violent storm arose one day
And washed this poor mans house away.

And so to us the word is clear,
To go to church and only hear
What the Bible has to say
Is not enough; we must obey.
