TO DEATH

line

King of Terrors, have you come to taunt me?
Do you think that fear of you will haunt me?
In royal robes of darkest power arrayed,
Have you come on mission to invade
My heart with fearsome dread and weak misgiving?
Look closer now, you Horror of all living.
Can you see the substance that enfolds me,
The power of which now guards, sustains, upholds me?
Now, Dark One with countenance so pale,
Do you see your strength will not prevail?
To get to one redeemed you must pass through
The crimson flow that strips all power from you.
You cannot end my life by your volition.
I am the Lords, and He sets the condition
By which my breath will cease, my heartbeats still.
When that time comes, you must obey His will.
So, Death, I fear you not; therere no alarms.
Your touch can only send me to Gods arms.
