Overwhelmed by cares of life,
I find my faith put to the test.
I press my way through heat of day
In search of rest.
Drawn by gilded promises,
I leave my Shepherds narrow way,
And on I go until I know
Ive gone astray.
Frightened as a wayward lamb,
I find myself ensnared, held fast.
All comfort flown, I am alone,
A poor outcast.
Burdened down with loneliness,
I long to hear my Saviors voice.
Then in my loss I view His cross,
His path of choice.
Strengthened now by Jesus grace,
Im free, blood-cleansed, my sins confessed.
Within my soul I am made whole.
His love is rest.
Guided on the journey now,
I trust His help to stand the test.
He makes each choice, and I rejoice;
My Lord knows best.
