A PICTURE

He colored the scene with a series of clicks,
Campfire, mountains, the moon, and a star.
The five-year-old artist then voiced his concern,
"Mommy, is that the color bears are?"

Sincerely he asked, "Does my picture make sense?
"Is the night sky black? Is real fire red?"
Her features reflecting her love for her son,
She smiled and praised; she nodded her head.

Now pleased with his effort, he went back to work.
Big smile, bright eyes, his face all aglow,
He picked each new color, secure that his choice
Would be good because Mommy said so!
