EASING THE BURDEN

line

I longed for steadfast friends to weep with me.
The burden was severe; I could not pray
Beyond repeating tearfully, "Why me?"
In vain, I tried to push the hurt away.

Then one by one my friends knelt close to me;
The weight decreased as each one bore a part.
As, in accord, we all began to pray,
New courage flowed and gave strength to my heart.

Because my faithful friends had shared the load
And given valued time to pray for me,
The burden ceased to be, and we rejoiced;
Our precious Lord had given victory!
