As I prayed early one morning
For more things I thought that Id need,
I paused for a time of silence;
The Lord gave this message to me:

"Ive given to you something special
That no one on earth can destroy.
It is a beautiful treasure;
Why cant you accept it with joy?

"Instead, you constantly grumble
And complain theres more that you need.
Have you forgotten your promise
To follow wherever I lead?

"I may not grant all your wishes,
Your dreams may not always come true.
Remember, whatever happens,
That I know what is best for you.

"Joyfully take what I give you,
And follow me closely each day.
Trust me to love and protect you;
Ill meet every need on your way!"

Silent, I pondered His message,
The wisdom and truth of His Ways.
Wiser, I rose from that prayertime,
Accepting my portion with praise.
