Work hurried the time. Sooner than quickly, the Luvvins family gathered in the parlor. Father told them again the story of the birth of the Child Who was sent to deliver His people. Then Father solemnly lit the star in the Star Clock. "Eternity's Light," he said, "stepped into time."

After singing carols, Nick and Penny went to bed to sleep fitfully awaiting Christmas Day.

The two awoke early and raced to the parlor. Their parents, hearing them, followed. Nick threw open the door and raced to the tree in the corner. "A puppy!" he shouted. Penny knelt beneath the tree. She was stroking the fur of a tiny kitten. Other gifts were shared, but the two little Wondernells loved their pets best.

"What will you name them?" asked Father Luvvins.

"My dog will be called General for he will be a brave leader," said Nick solemnly.

Penny smiled, "I'll call my kitten Queenie because she will rule her little world."

Mother Luvvins nodded. "Good names. Now we must dress for the party."

"Yes," Father agreed. "We are celebrating with a ceremony and a community Christmas Dinner at Sky-view Friendship Center. As our friend the Gatekeeper would say, 'Double-time, Troops, double-time!'"
